Day of the Farmer Unčovice 2024: How did the first year go and what was the main topic?

On Wednesday 11 September 2024, the first edition of the exhibition Farmer’s Day in Unčovice near Olomouc. This event, organized by Profi Press, s.r.o., will now alternate annually with the traditional Farmer’s Day in Kámen. Already at its premiere, it attracted a large number of visitors from the ranks of farmers, suppliers and industry experts to Unčovice, who could share experiences and establish new business contacts. In addition, the latest technologies and practices in grain processing and storage were presented, which contributed to interesting discussions.

What were the farmers most interested in? Key discussion topics

Our team FARMIX a.s. participated in the event as an exhibitor, although this time we did not bring specific technologies for presentation. Instead, we created a friendly backdrop at our company trailer, where we offered visitors refreshments and space for discussion.

During the day we met not only with our existing customers, but also with new ones interested in building post-harvest lines, upgrading older systems or replacing dryers with new ones.

We discussed the current situation in agriculture, addressed specific projects and arranged further meetings. There was also a debate on trends in energy-saving and efficient technologies that help to optimize operations and reduce costs for farmers.

What innovations can reduce costs for farmers?

The number one topic was the future of grain drying and storage in the context of increasingly challenging conditions.

A number of farmers were interested in the possibility of upgrading their post-harvest lines, which includes not only replacing the old dryer with a new one, but also repairing or replacing the conveyors depending on their condition.

The availability of subsidies was also a big topic, but few people can actually use them.

Another area discussed was the reduction of operating costs and more efficient management of processes on farms, especially with the use of modern technology and automation.

Canceled Day 2: How did the weather affect the event?

The originally planned two-day event was cut short due to bad weather and the second day of the show was cancelled.

Given the subsequent floods, this was an understandable decision.

The first day was held in a friendly atmosphere and allowed for a number of useful discussions on the modernisation of agricultural technology. There was noticeable interest among farmers in specific solutions for crop storage and drying, both in terms of efficiency and long-term savings.

The Unčovice Farmer Day 2024 offered useful talks and valuable information for farmers planning investments in modernisation. We look forward to the next edition – either in Unčovice or next year in Kamen.
